Building the brand and product for the future of NIL

I worked with Student Athlete Score for about a year and a half to build out their brand and product MVPs from the ground up. Aside from the logo I built out their brand guidelines including type, color, imagery, icons, grid systems, and more. Along with that I worked with Jake Palma (instagram.com/jakepalma.design) to help build out the social media and content strategy and I also worked with Laura Porat (instagram.com/lauraporat) to add motion to a sizzle reel that I designed/art directed.

Going into this project we wanted to start putting the brand and products out into the world immediately so with that I had to create a brand that was simple and could be integrated quickly. To start I settled on a quick color palette of three colors, a rich dark blue, a lighter shade of that dark blue and a punchy chartreuse. I knew that the the products were heavy on data so using the chartreuse really helped the data come forward and stick out. Once more product were being built, a larger color palette was built to factor in warnings/alerts and to accommodate larger data sets. For imagery I really wanted to lean into this dark mode theme as well as feature action shots of athletes so we landed on this two tone approach for images that we could use in social media and the background of different applications such as the marketing site or pitch decks etc.

Going into the product, over the span of my time working with SA Score, I designed multiple MVPs with the most prominent ones being the Athlete App and Athlete Marketing Intelligence platform. The athlete app is a tool that student athletes can use to track their metrics, benchmark their followings against their peers, view information about different companies and build out a brand strategy for themselves using AI. I did everything from helping with the app strategy, to the app design, to the app store screenshots. The Athlete Marketing Intelligence platform is essentially a CRM tool that college sports administrators can use to keep track of specific athlete followings, while also building out marketing campaigns, building out media kits for athletes and more. In addition to both of these platforms, I also designed an internal tools platform for the team.

It was really fun to work with a company from the ground up and be the first designer. We spent the entire year and a half of my engagement refining and building on top of the base that was set early on. Wishing Student Athlete Score the best in their future ventures!
